Important

Migration Wizard can’t shift the following items:

  • ticket inline images
  • CC recipients in tickets
  • updated-at-dates of tickets
  • custom fields for organization and contacts
  • note attachments for problems and changes
  • macros, triggers, automation settings
  • change inline images
  • other settings

Comments' created-at dates and comment authors will migrate within the comment body.

The updated-at dates of changes and problems will be transferred as the dates of data migration.

Pre-migration to-do list

To ensure a successful ServiceNow data migration, go through these preparation steps.

Create a data migration strategy

Prepare for your data migration in advance by going through the following basic steps:

Connect your source and target platforms

Fill in the access credentials to connect your source and target platforms.

ServiceNow requires a URL, username, and password.

Choose what data to transferSelect what source record to import to ServiceNow.
Match groupsMap groups between the Source and ServiceNow. Then, pick a default group for unassigned, deleted, and inactive groups.
Match users (admins)Match users between Source and ServiceNow. Then, select a default user for unassigned, deleted, and inactive agents.
Map ticketsMap default and custom fields. System fields are automatically mapped.
Map articlesMap article statuses between your Source and ServiceNow accounts.
Choose automated options

Select from the following options:

  • Add a new tag to tickets
  • Migrate inline images as ticket attachments
  • Skip attachments
  • Demo with custom data (up to 20 IDs of tickets records & 20 IDs of KB articles)

What to do after the Demo data migration

Check the reports for migrated, failed, and skipped records. Verify each by comparing IDs on the Source platform and ServiceNow:

  • All comments were moved, and authors stayed the same.
  • Tickets are assigned correctly.
  • Contacts and organizations transferred accurately.
  • Articles kept their original statuses.
  • Attachments moved as expected.
