How do you set up a data migration process?
The process of data migration with Migration Wizard is very straightforward. No special skills or coding is required. Instructions and hints that are provided will support you from A to Z. However, if you find something unclear, our super friendly support team is always there to help you.
Here’s how it goes.
Step 1. To get things going, sign up on our website. Except a traditional ‘via email’ way, you can use social networks, which will make the registration only last a few seconds.
Step 2. Pick UseResponse as your source of data, provide a link to your organization account and API key. All needed information can be derived from your UseResponse account settings.
Step 3. Pick a target platform of your choice.
Step 4. Select entities that you want to migrate. Keep in mind that you can only migrate tickets together with contacts and agents. Depending on your needs, you can either migrate help desk data or knowledge base or choose a combination of both.
No matter your choice, you have to proceed with a simple mapping process. Just click on the “Map fields” button and match up ticket fields between UseResponse and your target help desk. If any questions arise, feel free to use our support chat.
Step 5. See how it works. Demo migration will start automatically and migrate twenty random tickets. The demo process will last no more than 5 minutes. This step is completely free for you to try. Before proceeding with the full data migration, check thoroughly if your data migrated correctly.
If you’re satisfied with the results, move on the next step.
Step 6. Proceed with all data migration. An important note to remember - when migration is in progress, leave things as they are. It is certainly not advisable to edit or delete any records on the target platform. What is recommended is to wait until the migration is complete and only then start working on your platform of choice.
Step 7. Just like you did with demo migration, check the outcome of the Full Data Migration. Go to your target platform and make sure you are able to find all the records in your help desk, including help center articles if you migrated the knowledge base.
