While most understand the need for a good, constantly updated help desk, few realize that moving data from one system to another is not as simple as it might sound. The reason why this step exists is that as of the time of this writing, Zendesk supports both XML and CSV files, which can change in future. The next thing you need to do is head over to Kayako’s export options. Perform an export of all your data (do it multiple times in case of emergency) and back it up somewhere safe.
Then head over to Zendesk and try to move in the export file from Kayako. Once you get the notification that the migration process was successful, check what kind of information you managed to move and if you are missing something, you can try using a different export file format (i.e if you used CSV, try XML). And if that doesn’t work, you can try typing everything manually.
